At the start of this year when I left the
The News & Advance to run my photography business fulltime in Lynchburg, VA I felt that I could give back to my community. I wanted to Share my 10 years of experience as a working photojournalist who shot countless short and long term project for print media and who produced multimedia content in the field for the web. My goal is to work with a non-profit each year for pro bono where I can be creative with my ideas and offer my photography, audio and video multimedia skills for their annual campaign.
This year I worked on a pro bono project for the
YWCA of Central Virginia. I had an idea for a multimedia project that they could use online. I wanted to create a vision before I pitched it, so I decided to shoot test shots and create a layout on paper. I felt this project would give the
Purse & Passion a local voice that would help raise more money during their annual luncheon and for the years to come.
In April, I photographed 4 women and recorded their stories. I produced a multimedia slideshow that is about 5 min. long. These are their
Purse & Passion stories.
